How gideox handles your files

Most tool directories are vague about what happens to a file after you drop it in. Here is the actual breakdown for gideox.

Browser-side tools

Image conversion, compression, resizing, and basic document work run inside your browser. The file is read into memory on your device and is never uploaded.

Server-side tools

A small set of tools need a server to do the conversion. Those files are uploaded, processed, and deleted automatically once the job finishes. The tool page states the retention window.

Unit conversions

Unit converters use published SI factors, not rounded approximations. Results are shown to six decimal places so you can see how each number was derived.

Common questions

Is gideox free to use?+

Yes. Every tool on this site is free, with no daily cap on how many files you convert.

Do you store the files I upload?+

It depends on the tool. Some process the file in your browser and never send it anywhere. Others upload it to our server for the duration of the job, then delete it. The tool page tells you which one you are using.

Why do my converted files sometimes look slightly different?+

Some formats cannot represent everything the original could. A PDF with embedded fonts, for example, may substitute a font when converted to Word if the original is not licensed for embedding. Each tool page lists its known limitations.

Which unit conversion standards do you use?+

Length, weight, and temperature conversions use the exact SI definitions maintained by the BIPM. One inch, for example, is defined as exactly 25.4 millimetres. Results are shown to six decimal places.
